Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
India continues to be amongst the top global destinations for foreign direct investment. During November 2010, India attracted FDI equity inflows of US$ 1.6 billion. The cumulative amount of FDI equity inflows from April 2000 - November 2010 stood at US$ 187 billion, while the amount of FDI inflow into India during the fiscal year 2009-10 stood at US$ 25.8 billion, according to the latest data released by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).

The total amount of FDI inflows during FY 2010-11 (April- November 2010) is valued at US$ 14 billion of which services sector attracted the maximum FDI (US$ 2.6 billion). The country received maximum FDI from countries like Mauritius, Singapore, and the US with US$ 5.2 billion, US$ 1.4 billion and US$ 0.93 billion, respectively, during April-November 2010.
